We’re Onto You, Mademoiselles

Ooh la la. The city of lights. Land of chic women, land of effortless beauties, land of perfect style and impeccable entertaining. Always, we ask: How do French women do it? How do they achieve that je ne sais quoi?

Well, it turns out they do have a secret. It’s shocking. It’s downright simple, and some might even find the words a bit dirty. The secret? Frozen food.

Thankfully for us, the tradition of hostess-helping specialty markets has now landed stateside, and it lives in a little shop on the Upper East Side called Babeth’s Feast.

Started by a French woman who wants to show us Americans the beauty of high-quality frozen food, Babeth’s offers pre-made and frozen options for everything from appies to full-blown meals, all made from the same quality ingredients we’d use ourselves.

Sure, we usually like to spend time making our own croque monsieurs and mini crabcakes, but when we can’t, we’ll happily trust Babeth’s Feast as our new party purveyor.

At our latest cocktail party, we paired the apps with a cheese plate and crudité. We went for mini crabcakes, green onion latkes, croque monsieurs, and a caramel chocolate cup that blew our minds. The experience was deliciously easy and felt as fancy as a night out in Paris.

Quiches, tarts, veloutes, braised meats, roulades, and risottos: You name it, Babeth’s has it. So whether you’re planning next week’s dinner party or an at-home brunch with the ‘rents, Babeth’s Feast might be the answer to your “pop it in the oven and be done with it” dreams.
