Get ’em While It’s Hot: The Summer Flowers You Should Be Stocking Up On Now
If you haven’t noticed, Summer doesn’t last forever. But for us East Coasters that’s part of the fun. We appreciate this magical time just a little more than the other-coasters… and for now, Summer is still in full bloom (Do you see what we did there?). Still, we can strategize. That’s why we asked Priscilla Schaefer of Glorimundi what flowers we should be stocking up on now… because they won’t be around for much longer. Here are some stems to pick up at your local farm stand or bodega, or steal off the side of the road. JK stealing is bad.
The Hydrangea
Pinterest | Decor Pad
We love hydrangeas because they come in so many colors, and because they’re stand-alone stunners. They’ll fill a vase and brighten up a room without needing any help from other flowers.
Echinacea or The Cone Flower
Sarah Winward Studio | Style Me Pretty
These babies grow in the wild and are also garden faves with their large middle “cones” popping up from their colorful petals that come in just about every color. You’ve gotta get them while it’s hot out though, because come fall, their colors fade, er… actually, they’ll just die.
The Sunflower
Style Me Pretty | A Charming Day
Want to create a country backyard feel that’s still a little glam? There is no better flower than the strong, long-stemmed sunflower. We like ’em bunched, or placed individually in bud vases to brighten a long picnic table.
Queen Anne’s Lace
Queen Anne’s Lace, just like its name, is simple and elegant and, in big bunches, packs a surprising punch. It’s also super-affordable (especially if you find it in the wild – ha!) and brings a perfectly boho vibe to any bouquet. Bunch it with other stuff (like we did in our green arrangement) or let it stand alone.
