Feed Your Friends: Savory Superfood Appetizers

Superfoods. What are they? (Zoolander face). They’re supposed to make you in a better mood and help your digestion and basically save your life, right? Well we have NO CLUE if that’s true, but we thought it couldn’t hurt to try. And with these superfood appetizers we’ve whipped up, our mood is guaranteed to be boosted. We just might not know if that’s from the kale or the… uh… melted cheese?

Here, the first installment of some superfoods that we’re incorporating into our recipes, for their antidepressant, anti-inflammation, and anti-stress qualities. And hey, if that’s all BS, at least we’re having a party.

Kale: We’re not over kale yet. It’s a great source of magnesium (more than 50% of peeps are magnesium deficient), which helps strengthen bones and turn food into energy. It’s one of nature’s best anti-depression foods. It’s also delicious.

Add kale to your party: Kale Artichoke Dip

Saffron: We’re just mad about saffron. Why? Because it’s got antidepressant effects, antioxidants, helps digestion, contains vitamin C, folic acid, niacin, vitamin A, riboflavin. It’s also pretty, and there’s a song about it.

Add saffron to your party: Eggplant, Creamy Saffron Dip

Ginger: Ginger is well-known to aid digestion, but did you know it can also reduce your stress levels? Ginger, how can you be so good to us?

Sauerkraut: Sauerkraut? A superfood? Believe it, people. Sauerkraut’s got probiotics which are good for your gut, and help boost your immune system! It’s also one of our favorite foods. We eat it straight out of the jar. But here, we’ll give you a recipe so you don’t have to.

Add sauerkraut to your party: It’s a Reuben Quesadilla with Homemade Honey Mustard
