I’m Here for the… Happy Ending

Tucked away on graffiti-filled Broome St. is the revamped Happy Ending. The space has a storied LES past, once a massage parlor (hence, the name), and later a popular late night dance club. Its most recent incarnation is as a French-influenced restaurant, owned by Oliver Stumm (Café Select, Rintintin) and his partners, who’ve decided to maintain not only the original name, but also the place’s feel good party vibe. The newly renovated space has a feeling of old Havana mixed with downtown gallery mixed with Boca Raton kitsch.

They’re serious about the food, too. Michelin-starred chef Francis Gabarrus (who studied under Thomas Keller and Joel Rubuchon) serves up a menu that’s elevated but approachable. French dishes like Steak Tartare and Steak de Canard accompany lighter dishes like the Tuscan Chopped Salad and Grilled Mustard Chicken, which are perfect for that three-martini meal that turns into a late night of dancing.

Which brings us to the lounge. Head through a long dark corridor, down a set of stairs, and you’ll find a DJ booth and a newly renovated, intimate lounge space, the perfect setting for an aperitif to your sexy dinner date.

From the street, you’ll see a neon pink flamingo. Follow him to find yummy food, and a swanky cool crowd who’s down to party past midnight.
