Broomstick cookies are brown sugar cookies that are gooey and sort of taste like doughnuts. This recipe makes A LOT of ’em, so they’re perfect to make a batch for yourself, a batch for a friend, and a batch to bring to a party.

- 3 cups brown sugar
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 cup dark or light karo syrup or corn syrup
- 3 eggs
- ¾ cup raisins
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- ½ tsp. salt
- 4 ½ tsp. baking soda
- 6 ½ cups flour
Tips
- Powdered sugar frosting can be made many ways. We make ours with 1 cup confectioner's sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla, and a ½ tablespoon
- of milk.
Let's go
- Preheat Oven 350° F.
- Mix all ingredients until they are the consistency of pie dough.
- Shape into broomstick-sized rolls. Place lengthwise onto a cookie sheet. We recommend one roll per sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 min.
- Let stand a few minutes and then frost or drizzle with powdered sugar frosting. Slice diagonally.
