Friendship & Cocktails: 5 Places We’re Drinking This Spring

Spring means a lot of things to us. It means that we can emerge from our puffy coats that were starting to feel like appendages. It means that we can make dinner reservations and not cancel them because it’s too cold to leave the house. It means that we’re feeling social, like getting our friendship on. Obviously, what that means is cocktails.

In the spirit of this oh-so-social season, here are 5 new places we’re psyched to get our drank on this Spring.

Porchlight:

As New Yorkers, we’ve seen a lot of things, but an indoor porch? Now that’s new. Danny Meyer’s Southern-themed bar in Chelsea is his first bar that’s not part of a restaurant, but they’re serving up snacks from Blue Smoke chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois that range from beef jerky to something called “Tom’s Balls”. There’s also a game room – schwing!

Baccarat Hotel

What is it about a hotel bar that makes it feel slightly scandalous? We don’t know, but we like it. The bar at the Baccarat Hotel is old-school swanky with black and white décor and crystal chandeliers. The drinks ain’t cheap, so you can catch us there when we’re feeling particularly fancy. Pre-theater perhaps? I do say!

The Up & Up

This bar’s name is how Spring’s got us feeling: like everything’s on the up and up. Nestled in the space that used to be the famous Gaslight Café, the bar’s mantra is “high-end, low-key”. Need we say more?

Butter and Scotch

Sometimes, cocktails are better with a side of pie. Or in the form of a boozy milkshake. Or both. That’s when we’ll head to Butter and Scotch in Crown Heights, which is a dessert and craft cocktail bar. Sometimes you gotta go big.

Seamstress

This Upper East Side stunner’s décor is as fantastic looking as its craft cocktails. You can find us at the gorgeous wood tables enjoying a Wiz Fizz and some bread with acorn churned butter.
