Ingredients
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • 1 medium shallot
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • ½ tsp. red chile paste
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger, coursley ground or chopped
  • Glaze:
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Mirin (Asian cooking wine)
  • 1 tsp. agave
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger, coursley ground or chopped
  • 1 tsp. red chile paste
  • scallions, for garnish
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350° F.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the ground beef and the additional 4 ingredients. Form into small ½-inch long meatballs and place in an ovenproof baking dish, like a glass pyrex. Allow it to sit and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine all of the ingredients and cook on low heat allowing it the mixture to cook down into a glaze, approximately 10 minutes. The sauce should thicken up, into an almost syrup-like consistency. Once it’s the proper consistency, take off heat and reserve.
  4. Put the meatballs into the oven and cook for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, take out and pour the glaze on top of all the balls. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Chop the scallions on a diagonal cut. Put the meatballs onto a serving tray and garnish with the scallions.
