Restaurant Rolodex: Father’s Day Made Right

Forecast for Sunday: Bacon-y brunch, tacos and margs on repeat, and a ribeye – lobster kind of dinner date with dad. Whether you’re celebrating your own dad, your baby’s daddy, or that rockstar bro who is crushing it at fatherhood, these are some of my man approved brunch and dinner restaurants for that full serving of meat sweats and beer belly happiness.  ‘Cause you know what they say – Dad’s Matter!

For Brunch and Lunch

Motel Morris

This Chelsea newcomer is a fun and relaxed neighborhood restaurant with a large, diverse menu perfect for all kinds of eaters. The brunch menu is full of delicious favorites like huevos rancheros, burgers, and a pretty ridiculous PB&J French Toast. There are no calories on Father’s Day, right?

Root and Bone

This is Southern food done right. Like really right. Root and Bone is the East Village restaurant that is creating gourmand approved Souther dishes in a totally authentic way but with a twist. You must get the bonuts, as in the biscuit donuts. and their waffle benedict with pork belly bacon is Sunday morning hang over heaven. Dad may order the entire menu. No judgement on father’s day.

Rosie’s

This LES Mexican restaurant is the perfect place to post up for brunch, margaritas, and patio people watching. With an open air design, you’ll feel like you’re kind of in Mexico as you nosh on amazing street style finger foods and indulge in some serious brunch dishes. I love all of their sauces and tacos as well!

Cafe Habana

For the no fuss dad who isn’t into long boozy brunches, this Cuban New York City mainstay is an obvious favorite for a hearty and seriously satisfying breakfast or brunch. You’ll be full just walking into the place and seeing what comes out of the small kitchen. The pork sandwiches, huevos rancheros, and just about any other platter they offer, is exactly what the guys in my life crave on a Sunday afternoon, and for a great price. Dad will thank you on all accounts.

Quality Eats

This Greenwich Village dining spot, owned and operated by the same guys as Quality Meats, Quality Italian, and Park Avenue Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring, has a downtown cool, casual vibe with an amazing burger melt, among other things. Sit outside, sip on the original frosé, and eat some seriously delicious meat.

Dinner and Drinks

Pig Bleeker

This new(ish) restaurant is a cross between upscale BBQ and creative Italian. Open for lunch, brunch, and dinner, we’d recommend coming at any time of the day but their dinner is really something special because of the unique blend of the cuisines. Dad loves BBQ and mom loves pasta. This place is the perfect compromise.

This sexy West Village steak house is a trendy Chicago import that opened earlier this year.  It’s become a hard reservation to snag and for good reason, just about every item on the menu is a major dad approved dish. From their steaks to their must have burger, you will make any dad proud by planning a night out here.

This Brooklyn favorite is on so many lists and for good reason. It’s just so damn good. The pizza is fantastic, the restaurant has a great outdoor back area that is perfect for drinking beers and soaking up the late June sun. There are really great happy vibes and every person who works there is really passionate about their food. If dad could live off one thing for the rest of his life, it would probably be Roberta’s Pizza.
