Hanging with HungryGrls

If you’re not already following HungryGrls on Instagram, you actually might be the only one. They’re Insta-famous for their mouthwatering, perfectly lit food photos, which, if you scroll through their locations, can provide a bonafide index of where to eat, eat, and eat in NYC. They also know how to party. We spent some time on the Lower East Side getting to know Jennie and Olivia, and they took us to some of their fave spots. Here’s your “Where to Go” on the LES this weekend.

For Sustenance:

El Rey Coffee Bar & Luncheonette
100 Stanton St.
New York, NY 10002
(212) 260-3950

The avocado toast at El Rey is the best in the city. It can take us from hungover to resurrected. It’s something truly special: the warm and doughy flatbread is made in-house, the avocadoes are consistently flawless (we can’t figure out how they’re always so perfect!), the chimichurri is a sauce-lover’s dream come true. It’s a rave for your tastebuds.

Ivan Ramen
25 Clinton St.
New York, NY 10002
(646) 678-3859

What’s better than a warm bowl ramen on a cold fall day? A warm bowl of ramen AND the Tofu Coney Island Style. This combo can only be had at Ivan Ramen, which is consistently packed, so we recommend going during off hours (like 10p.m. on a Tuesday or 11 a.m. on a Sunday. The ramen’s great, but don’t miss the apps and sides like the tofu we mentioned above (and will keep mentioning forever), the Chinese greens, and the LES Buns.

For Sweets:

Prohibition Bakery
9 Clinton St.
New York, NY 10002

When you walk into Prohibition Bakery, the air is warm and bacon-scented. Did you read that right? Bacon-scented. But there’s more: Prohibition Bakery’s cupcakes, which are bite-sized and come in seasonal flavors, are also spiked. This makes them the perfect hair of the dog/hostess gift/thing to shove in your mouth by the dozen.

For a Bloody Mary:

The Wren
344 Bowery
New York, NY 10012
(212) 388-0148

For Bagels:

Black Seed Bagels
170 Elizabeth St.
New York, NY 10012
(212) 730-1950

For a Hot Toddy and Spinach Artichoke Dip:

Freemans
End Of Freeman Alley, off of, Rivington St.
New York, NY 10002
(212) 420-0012

For Beauty:

Hortus Nailworks
210 Forsyth St.
New York, NY 10002
(917) 475-1558

If food is the star of our Instagram shots, our nails are the best supporting actors. We always have to keep our digits polished to perfection. Our fave place to do this is Hortus Nailworks. Why? Duh, because it’s cute. Succulents scale the walls and windows, they serve green tea in Mason jars for Christ’s sake!

For Dancing All Night:

Von
3 Bleecker St.
New York, NY 10012
(212) 473-3039
