Dishing with Ali of Fatty Sundays

Fatty Sundays is not just the [awesome] name of a gourmet chocolate covered pretzel company, with one of the most appealing, sprinkle-dusted, happiness-inducing, pretzel-craving-creating  Instagrams around. It’s also a state of mind — it’s cozy, indulgent, all about enjoying your favorite foods around your family and friends. We at #FAT are about all the same things, so we caught up with Ali, part of the dynamic duo who started Fatty Sundays, to dish about how she likes to eat, entertain, and live.

Fatty Sundays is such a good name – and your pretzels are amazing. How did you come up with the concept?

Growing up, on Sundays, we would treat ourselves to our Mom’s goodies – her sprinkle chocolate covered pretzels were always our favorite, though we also loved her brownies, chococolate chip coffee cake, and rugelach. So, Sundays were fatty Sundays.

Do you like to entertain?

I love to entertain! Now that I’m an adult (sort of), I have plates and serving pieces I love to use. Setting up and putting everything on display is one of my favorite parts of entertaining. My “thing” is brunch and dessert.

What’s your entertaining style?

Eclectic and rustic. I love to prepare food you don’t have every day; a lot of my serving pieces are mismatched on purpose. One set of my plates are floral patterns, but no two are alike – they’re all from different companies.

What are 5 essentials to a perfect party?

Delicious food, an awesome playlist, dessert, optional seating, decorative details.

What’s your favorite cocktail to serve or be served?

Champagne or white wine with a splash of St. Germaine.

3 things that are always in your fridge?

Eggs, peanut butter, scallions… and Fatty Sundays pretzels.

Any food you think is totally overrated?

Truffle anything! I don’t get what the fuss is about.

If you could party with one person – living or dead – who would it be?

Ellen DeGeneres
