Restaurant Rolodex: In the Center of the Ring Just Like A Circus

Tucked away on cobblestoned Thomas Street in Tribeca, there’s an almost unnoticeable door with a light up sign above it. This is the entrance to Bar Cyrk, a new bar that looks like it could be an old New York standard. Inside is a small, charming, circus-themed space, with festive lights surrounding the bar. The idea is to celebrate the circus that is New York City. Along with specialty cocktails, Cyrk serves yummy snacks: fresh homemade pizzas, popcorn, salads, and homebaked desserts. Our favorite was the truffle parmesan popcorn.

We like the wild vibe of the décor: clown shoes on the shelves, crystal chandeliers, black and white photos of old-school New York and circuses of yesteryear.

There’s something slightly mysterious about Cyrck, and we think it’s perfect for that night that could go in many directions: a date where you don’t know if you’ll stay a little longer (popcorn, please!), a meet-up with an old friend to dish about life’s adventures, a drink alone that may lead to a chat with a sexy stranger. The only thing that might make it better? If Britney was our drinking buddy.
