Coffee: Because You Don’t (Always) Need Booze to Be Besties

Non-hibernation weather, small amounts of sunshine, and the feeling that we’ve been cooped up for the past few months have combined to stir up the social butterfly in us. Friends! We have them! We almost forgot. The other thing we forgot is that besty-time doesn’t always have to involve booze. It can also happen over coffee. Here are our three favorite places to catch up over coffee this Spring. The places on our list have legit food, too. Because sometimes, good dish requires some good dish.

Bluestone Lane Collective Café

Cute Australian servers. Delicious coffee. Green juices, coconut quinoa porridge, buckwheat banana bread. This cute-as-a-button West Village coffee shop has been on our fave list for months, but we’re psyched for the warmer weather, so that we can sit outside.

Maman

This Soho café serves coffee from Brooklyn fave Toby’s Estate and food inspired by the South of France: quiches, Nutella madeleines, croque “mamans”. We love their blue and white china and maybe even more, their blue and white printed to-go cups.

El Rey Coffee Bar and Luncheonette

El Rey gives off major cool kid vibes. The neon sign, the rockin’ tunes, the fact that there are only three tables. But it’s not the cool kid vibes that will have you coming back. It’s the coffee and the crazy yummy food. We’re sort of obsessed with the kale salad.
